Florida Freewheelers Charitable Giving
Every year, Florida Freewheelers invests directly into making Central Florida a safer, stronger, and more vibrant place for riders. In 2025 the Florida Freewheelers donated over $23,000 to various cycling-related causes, organizations, and community programs.
Where Your Donations Go
A donation of $2,000 was made to the Florida Bicycle Association, and $3,000 in donations to the League of American Bicyclists to continue their work advocating for cyclists at both the state and federal levels.
A donation of $2,000 each was made to the St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop Alliance and the SORBA Orlando organizations that promote cycling and trail development in the Central Florida area. A donation of $1,000 was made to Bike Walk Central Florida in support of their efforts in promote cycling and pedestrian safety.
The club donated helmets to the Down Syndrome Foundation of Central Florida in support their iCan Bike event.
The club donated many bicycles to needy school children this year. Some were provided via the New Hope for Kids organization, the majority were
provided through the Seminole County Public Schools during the Christmas holidays, and a few to a needy family in Lady Lake. Along with these
bikes, we also provided new helmets, locks and pumps.
The club donated $750 to the UCF Cycling Team. In return, the team worked at one of this year’s horrible hundred SAG stops.
We also sponsored FFW teams for the the CF Cycle for Life which benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Tour de Cure benefiting the American Diabetes Association and the 5th Annual Sanford Ride to Freedom.

Member Impact
Our giving doesn’t just strengthen the community, it directly benefits our members. All new members received a free one-year membership to the Florida Bicycle Association. They also received free one-year memberships to the League of American Bicyclists and the St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop Alliance organizations. And finally, members were able to participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life, and the upcoming 2025 Tour de Cure for free and/or significantly reduced donation minimums. Add up all these benefits and it far exceeds the annual FFW membership fees!
