The club held it’s annual Sunday after Thanksgiving ride and picnic at the Northwest Recreation Center on Sunday, November 27th. Over fifty cyclists gathered at the park to enjoy three new routes created by Gilberto Ramirez Pinheiro especially for the picnic ride. We had perfect weather for the ride with temperatures in the 70’s, sunny skies, and low humidity.
Club Social Director Mike Orlovsky prepared a feast while the riders were out on the routes. Club members and guests sat by the lake, socialized, and polished off salmon, shrimp, brats & burgers complimented with a variety of sides and deserts while recounting the days ride and the recently completed Horrible Hundred.
Gilberto surprised everyone present with a gift CD that his band had recorded.
In recognition of the challenging times, Adonis Realin arranged a special addition … a “Food-Drive to Ride out hunger in Central Florida!” Club members and guests were quite generous and we collected five boxes of food for donation to Second Harvest Charity. The Second Harvest group will distribute to those less fortunate in Central Florida for the Holidays.
The After Thanksgiving ride was quite a success and we will grow it further in 2012 … the Northwest Recreation Center has plenty of room!
See you in 2012.
